10M/26M/50km Course InfoThe 10 Mile Course uses pretty much the entire park in a larger circumnavigation. Elevation gain is 1140 feet, mostly on rolling singletrack trails. The 26.2Mile (Marathon) will use two loops of 10 Mile, one loop of 5 Mile and a 1.1Mile extension, while the 50km Course will use the 10Mile course three times and a 1.1 Mile extension. Soaring Eagle Regional Park is 600 acres of mature forests, wetlands, and wildlife habitat. This natural area provides sanctuary for black bear, bobcat, black tail deer and more than 40 species of birds. There are twelve miles of trails that are regularly used by hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians. The Pipeline Trail that crosses through the park is wide and flat – in fact, it is quite common to see families with baby strollers out enjoying the trail. Soaring Eagle is also popular for trail running competitions. King County Parks partners with groups like Friends of Soaring Eagle, the Boy Scouts, and hiking and biking enthusiasts, who volunteer to help us maintain the trails and preserve the park’s natural heritage. (Click on image to enlarge) General ConsiderationsThe trails will be open to other users during the event, including equestrians (are allowed on the trails but seldom encountered), pedestrians and cyclists. Horses do have the right of way, and if you encounter a horse in your path, stop running, step off the path, and let the horse past, unless the rider will tell you that it is okay to walk past. Please be courteous. Where the trails are narrow, please let other participants pass you if they want to get by. It is a passing runner's job to tell the person in front that they wish to pass. The course, particularly the 10Mile, 20Mile and 50km sections have some rough and rooty sections, and in the winter can accumulate large deep puddles. Please be careful when you proceed. Participants are responsible for their own safety. In case of an emergency, call 9-1-1, should you decide to bring a cellphone, most areas of Soaring Eagle Park have reception. We will also have volunteers at mile 4 (Aid Station) and we will sweep the course. You must notify event organizer or volunteers if you decide to quit since we need to ensure all participants have safely returned after the event.
